The story of this Champagne is one of passion and family legacy.
Martine runs a 2-hectare estate located entirely within the terroir of Pierry, south of Épernay. As a sixth-generation winemaker, she carries on the family tradition. Her father, Guy, was a Récoltant-Manipulant; the family business ceased operations in the late 1990s following his early death. At that time, Martine took over part of the estate and became a Récoltante-Coopératrice within the Pierry cooperative.
Her husband Éric, on the other hand, comes from the agricultural industry and is driven by a deep passion for wine. He worked for fifteen years as a cellar master at a small Champagne négociant house. It was a formative experience that sharpened his perspective and standards.
In 2018, Martine and Éric decided to give their vision of Champagne new momentum. Their goal: to place common sense back at the heart of their craft—both in the vineyard and in winemaking.
Georges was Martine’s paternal grandfather, a winemaker who passed away at the age of 32. By using his first name, Martine and Éric bring him into the present as a link between the generations. The “VX” is not a Roman numeral, but a graphic abbreviation of the name Vollereaux, a family name deeply rooted in the Champagne region. “We could have simply chosen the letter V, but that probably would have been a bit too presumptuous,” Éric says with a wink.
